Wepala Limited
Rapid Growth, The Startup Experience
At Wepala, I was thrown into the deep-end. In my first month there, I was tasked with building webookstt.com. After successfully deploying this site, I was put onto the PAAY team. I also participated in the Development of the Apollo app hackathon for a TEDX Port of Spain event.
My time at Wepala functioned to help me grow as a developer and the most important lesson I learned is, you can do anything with tech as long as you keep an open mind.

The Software
WebooksTT.com
This was an innovative bookstore in Trinidad and Tobago. It was meant to bridge the gap and make purchasing school books for each term easy and affordable. It also sought to innovate by making re-selling your used textbooks to fund the next Year’s booklist. The store was built with Magento. I was responsible for Deployment to AWS Cloud, using Terraform, theming the site, adding content to the bookstore and extending magento for our needs. After the store was up and running, I was tasked with maintenance and updates to the site.

PAAY
PAAY is a client of Wepala. Their business focuses on implementing the 3D Secure specification. Their business model is mainly B2B. Whilst working as part of the team at PAAY, I began building my skills with Golang, Python and NodeJS. It was here that the DevOps bug bit me and I began diving more into AWS services and Terraform. I quickly moved into a highly productive role on the team working to build and maintain a complex web of microservices and serverless functions. As a part of the team, I maintained and upgraded APIs, front-end UIs, backend data pipelines and improved infrastructure for the company.
